A BJP leader in Telangana’s Khammam district allegedly attempted suicide on Tuesday reportedly upset over removal of Bandi Sanjay Kumar from the post of state BJP unit’s president.The report said that BJP Khammam town vice president Gajjala Srinivas allegedly attempted to commit suicide at his house in Khammam.
His family members took him to a hospital after noticing him lying unconscious with a rope around his neck.Srinivas has been shifted to a hospital and his condition is stated to be out of danger, said the report quoting sources.
However, police did not confirm the incident.A police official said they had no information about the reported incident.
A note circulated on a social media platform and purportedly written by Srinivas said “he was pained over removal of Bandi Sanjay Kumar from the post of Telangana BJP president and he is ending his life”.
When verified, the reports were found to be fake.
When contacted, the person said he was disappointed that the party had dropped Sanjay but asked, “Why should I attempt suicide.” He said he had campaigned for Sanjay in Karimnagar and had participated in the padayatra.He blamed a Karimnagar leader for making the fake news of his suicide attempt go viral.
