Sharad Pawar is re-elected NCP president

New Delhi, Sep 10 : Sharad Pawar was on Saturday unanimously elected the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president at the national executive meeting held in New Delhi.
Following the conference, NCP general secretary Praful Patel declared that Pawar was elected without opposition by the NCP’s national executive.

The party will hold a its national council meetings on Sunday, at which time Pawar is expected to present the roadmap for the alliance at national level of opposition parties.

Patel in his turn, however, stated that an OBC census should be conducted and all parties must join forces to challenge the BJP.

He added that Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal-United senior Nitish has resigned from the NDA and there was a need for unity.

Nitish Kumar Nitish Kumar, who was in Delhi, the capital city of the nation this week, met a plethora of political leaders, beginning with Congress president Rahul Gandhi to NCP chief Sharad Pawar to CPI-M Secretary General Sitaram Yechury CPI’s D.Raja and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal (AAP).

Nitish Kumar’s motive of his visit was to promote the discussions of the opposition’s unity.

He is also planning to get to know Congress interim leader Sonia Gandhi when she returns from her travels.

Before arriving in the capital of the nation in the capital city of the nation, the Bihar Chief Minister previously met RJD chief Lalu Prasad and TRS supremo K.Chandrasekhar Rao – the Telangana Chief Minister of Telangana.
