Dubai 4th September : Awed by the confidence of back-to-back wins to top the group A in Asia Cup 2022, India will be hoping to continue their winning performance in this tournament as they play their the arch-rivals Pakistan in their very first Super Four match at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.With anticipation high for the match of the most infamous rivalry in the world of cricket, right-handed batsman Suryakumar Yadav is convinced that his recent success has been due to his being in his comfort zone and focussing on his game.
Suryakumar was the one to set the stage to blaze in the match against Hong Kong when he smashed an unbeaten 68 runs in just 26 balls after going in to bat in the final seven overs.Suryakumar hit the ball all over the park by hitting six fours and a dozen sixes, with an average of 261.53 which earned him appreciation from players such as of Virat Kohli and as well as other teammates, and even the those who were critical of the sport.
“Obviously that was the case as a child there were plenty of discussions about the game between India and Pakistan.
People say it’s the best rivalry however, when I or any other player steps on the field it’s as if we’re playing a game that is just another.When we step onto the stadium, all of our preparations, our routines, everything we’ve been doing for every other game, it shows on the field.”
“So when I am to the field, it’s the same.I don’t know the rivalry that has been going on or what expectations from outside.are.So, I try to remain in my own zone and enjoy the game.” stated Suryakumar on “Follow the Blues” on Star Sports.Suryakumar added more details on what his mindset prior to high-intensity games must be and the preparation for them.”For me personally, I believe that my practices have always been top-notch.What I have accomplished in the last three or four years with my game is to and sit in the area and observe me batting repeatedly.”
“Just try to keep one step ahead of any other team.Therefore, I think that my team’s preparations are always top-of-the-line and these aspects have helped me to this point and I’ll continue to do that repeatedly and again.”
Since making his T20I debut against England in March 2021, Suryakumar has often been recognized by his capacity to make stunning shots and is regarded as being a 360-degree player.However, it’s the sweep shot that holds an important spot in his heart when he plays.
“I enjoy playing the sweep shot and I love playing it to spinners, as well as to fast bowlers whenever I feel like I need to play it but it’s not the necessity of the moment to play on every ground, so I try to be me.”
In his 23 T20I innings since his India T20I debut, Suryakumar has scored 758 runs with an average of 39.89 and an average strike rate of 177.51 which includes six half-centuries and a century.In 2022, he is leading the chart of batting for India in the most compact form of cricket, scoring 514 runs in 14 innings, with an average of 42.83 and a strike rate of 190.37.
“I believe that with how cricket is playing I used to play similar to this in Ranji Trophy.Naturally, I was not playing the fast bowler with a sweeping motion and taking the scoop.However, my approach, my mental state was identical as when playing red ball, too.It’s the identical in all three formats.It does not differ from one T20 to one-day.Therefore, my mental outlook remains the same.I try to be as expressive as I can.”
“And with the way things were being played at that point I wanted to be a bit different.So, I decided to try some strokes in the nets and and then started watching my batting over and over repeatedly, where I could excel and in what areas I could improve on and those are my strengths.
I started practicing the technique in the nets and it was all smoothly during the match.So, I am really pleased with the progress,” concluded Suryakumar.
