No matter how many measures the Andhra Pradesh state government takes, the red sanders smuggling is still continuing in the state.Recently, the Kurnool Police seized a large number of red sander logs at Nannur Tollgate Plaza near Kurnool.
According to the police reports, 177 red sandalwood logs were found in a DCM vehicle travelling from Hyderabad to Chennai.
Police found the vehicles with red sanders while conducting vehicle inspections.
The suspects, including the lorry, were shifted to the police station.They weighed 3.84 tonnes and cost Rs.3.84 cores, said Kurnool DSP Venkatramayya.Speaking on this occasion, the DSP said that Magunta Vishwanath Reddy alias Prasad Reddy of Prakasam district Tangutur had been smuggling red sandalwood for some period.
While interrogating the accused, the police found that the smugglers are smuggling red sander from Chittoor to a warehouse in Shamshabad.Also, they said that the red sandalwood logs in the Shamshabad warehouse were being smuggled to Chennai.
Sivakumar was earlier arrested by the police while smuggling red sandalwood logs from Chittoor district, and currently, he is on bail.The Kurnool police again filed a case against him.
