Kannada actor Suraj Kumar, also known as Dhruwan, was involved in a serious road accident on June 24.The incident took place on the Mysuru-Gundluper highway near Begur while he was riding his motorcycle.
Suraj Kumar was trying to pass a tractor when he lost balance and collided with a tipper lorry at around 4 pm.He was immediately taken to Manipal Hospital in Mysuru for treatment.Unfortunately, his right leg was severely injured, leading doctors to make the difficult decision to amputate it below the knee in order to save his life.
Suraj Kumar, aged 24, is the nephew of the late Kannada actor Dr Rajkumar’s wife, Paravathamma Rajkumar.
His father, SA Srinivas, is a well-known film producer.Suraj Kumar had embarked on a journey from Mysuru to Ooty on his motorcycle when the accident occurred.
Reports suggest that he collided with the tipper lorry in Gundlupet taluk near Hirikati Gate while trying to overtake the tractor.Suraj Kumar underwent a life-saving surgery, but the cost was the loss of his leg.Updates on his health are yet to be disclosed.
The young actor had a passion for riding bikes and often shared pictures of himself on social media.
He was fond of his Harley Davidson bike, as seen in a black-and-white photo he posted.Suraj Kumar’s dedication to fitness was evident in his workout posts as well.
In the film industry, Suraj Kumar changed his name to Dhruwan.He was set to make his debut in the movie world with the film “Bhagawan Shri Krishna Paramathma,” directed by Anup Antony.
However, the film, launched by Kannada actor Darshan, was never released and was eventually shelved for unknown reasons.Suraj Kumar was also cast in another film titled “Rantham.” Prior to the accident, he had signed on for an untitled project alongside actress Priya Prakash Varrier, although the fate of this film remains uncertain.
Suraj Kumar’s family, including Dr Rajkumar’s son Shiv Rajkumar and his wife Geetha, visited him at the hospital but have not yet commented on the accident.As of now, further details about his condition and recovery are awaited.
