Namrata Shirodkar, the former Miss India, actress, humanitarian, entrepreneur, and wife of superstar Mahesh Babu, has recently spoken about her life, career, and being a mother. In an interview with a Bollywood media house, Namrata says her parents taught her to be independent and rise above societal pressures, and she instills the same values in her kids.
She believes women today are not hesitant to acknowledge their worth and be self-reliant emotionally, mentally, and financially.
While there is still a long way to go in achieving gender equality, she feels the change is a positive step towards creating a more inclusive society.
Namrata is known for her roles in Hindi and Telugu films and now manages Mahesh Babu’s work besides taking business calls, brand endorsement deals, and looking after their kids.
When asked about balancing work and motherhood, she says it can get challenging when there are too many things that demand her attention, but she has learned to prioritize her tasks and balance both aspects of her life.
Mahesh has been instrumental in helping her deal with challenging situations and sharing parental responsibilities.
Namrata is also an entrepreneur and feels there are significant challenges, especially when it comes to higher-level leadership positions, but progress is being made.
Her acting career was never planned, but it came to her organically post Miss Universe, and she always looked up to her grandmother, a legendary actress in Marathi cinema, who dared to step outside of the norm in the face of criticism, which she finds extremely inspiring.
Coming from a middle-class family, Namrata believes it’s important to stay humble and grounded at all times, and she instills the same values in her kids. While societal pressure is something every woman experiences in her life decisions, Namrata’s decision to quit acting was a personal choice, and she never let anyone’s opinion come into play in her decision-making.
If given the choice again, she would still choose her marriage over her acting career.Namrata is an ever-shining, independent, and strong-headed lady who believes in rising above challenges and being true to herself.
