New Delhi, Aug 14 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tribute to all those who perished during the partition process to commemorate the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.In an official tweet the Prime Minister tweeted, “Today, on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day I pay tribute to all people who lost their lives during Partition and awe the courage and determination of the people who were hurt during that terrible time of our nation’s history.”On the 14th of August last year the Prime Minister Modi stated that in the memory of the sacrifices and struggles of our countrymen, the 14th of August will be celebrated as ‘Partition Horrors Day of Remembrance’.
In a string of tweets in which the Prime Minister Modi has stated that “Partition’s hurts will not be forgotten.
Millions of our brothers and sisters were forced to flee and many perished due to apathy and violence.In honor of the sacrifices and struggles of our citizens, the 14th August will be celebrated as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.”May the #PartitionHorrorsRemembranceDay keep reminding us of the need to remove the poison of social divisions, disharmony and further strengthen the spirit of oneness, social harmony and human empowerment,” the Prime Minister had added.
