Melbourne, December 31, : , Rafael Nadal, a Spanish tennis legend has arrived in Melbourne to host the Australian Open.This is after speculation that began two weeks ago following the recent COVID-19 positive test.Nadal’s maiden Melbourne Park title came in 2009.He had to end the 2021 season before the US Open due to recurring foot injuries that had caused him the need for a withdrawal.
In the third week in December, he returned to the action at Mubadala World Tennis Championships in Abu Dhabi.He tested positive for COVID-19 on his arrival in Spain.
Nadal informed him that his RTPCR result was positive, and that he’s experiencing ‘unpleasant times’.This led to speculation about whether he won’t be competing at the Australian Open.
He posted a picture of himself standing on the Melbourne blue court and tweeted: “Don’t Tell Anyone.here I Am.”
The tweet quickly went viral and thousands of people wished him luck.
A fan tweeted “Welcome Rafa”, while another wrote, “Yayyyyy cannot wait.”
Roger Federer was unable to compete in the season’s opening Grand Slam because of a serious injury.The Serbian World No.1 is also missing due to surgery.The Australian Open desperately needed big players and Nadal’s presence could provide them with a lot more comfort.
