Dr.Nand Kishore Garg, the petitioner, stated that innocent and poor patients are denied treatment due to an acute shortage in doctors and paramedical staff.

There is also misinformation about the availability and accessibility of relevant infrastructure.

Advocate Shashank Sudhi filed the petition.

It was stated that both the Delhi Government and the Central Government had not set up any committee or commission to investigate the omissions that led to the deaths of innocent citizens in NCT of Delhi.

“Private hospitals are illegally taking advantage of the plights of helpless patients.” “There are many cases in which doctors at government hospitals refer patients to private hospitals, citing the absence of infrastructure in government hospitals,” the plea was alleged.

It is clear that the government hospitals are not equipped to deal with the recent Coronavirus epidemic.

Even the protective masks and sanitisers are being black-marketed in Delhi at prohibitive and exorbitant prices. The plea stated that the government is totally insensitive to the increasing demand for quality medical services, as can be seen from the RTI response.
