Further, Rs 4,324 crore have been allocated to Uttar Pradesh as 15th Finance Commission tied grant for water & sanitation to Rural Local Bodies/Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) in 2021-22, the release said.

He approved this fourfold increase in allocation for 2021-22 and had promised full support to the state in providing tap water supply for every rural household by 2024.

The Jal Jeevan Mission was launched in July 2019 as a campaign for water conversation and security in mission mode by the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
