KTR requests Centre to move defence land in Hyderabad for Skyways

Hyderabad, January 1, : , Telangana’s Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K.T.Rama Rao urged Centre on Saturday to give defence land to construct two skyways in Hyderabad and land from the ministry of home affairs for a flyover.
Minister said that it was regrettable that Centre did not respond to multiple requests from the state government for defense lands transfer to enable construction of skyways between Patny and Kompally, as well as from Jubilee Bus Station in Turkapally.

We made many requests over the past six years.”We requested four new defence ministers and they have all changed,” stated the minister during the opening of SheikhpetRaidurgam’s flyover.

KTR stated that while defence land was given to Lucknow for the construction of roads, it wasn’t available to Telangana governments.

Kishan Reddy was there at the flyover inauguration and he urged him to raise the question of defense lands with Rajnath Singh, the Union Minister for Culture and Tourism.

KTR also mentioned the difficulties faced in Secunderabad Cantonment Area due to 21 roads being closed in violation of local military authorities rules.

He urged Kishan to raise the matter with Defence Minister to ensure all roads are open for public.

A request was made by the state minister for the help of the central minister in transferring a parcel of land from ministry of home Affairs at Rasoolpura Junction to build a flyover that will ease traffic congestion.

KTR stated that Hyderabad is rich in history and culture.He also urged KTR to urge the central minister for Hyderabad to be granted UNESCO World Heritage City status.

In this respect, he offered to help the state government.

In his speech Kishan Reddy stated that the Centre is ready to fund the development of Science City Hyderabad.

He also suggested that the state submit a proposal.

He also requested that the central minister ask state governments to begin land acquisitions for Regional Ring Roads (RRR) in Hyderabad.

He stated that the Centre had already approved the project and said work could begin once the land was acquired.Kishan Reddy stated that the project will be an important step in the growth of Hyderabad and the surrounding areas.

Six-lane, two-way flyover between Sheikhpet and Raidurgam was built as part of the Strategic Road Development Program (SRDP), at a cost Rs 333 Crore.

The flyover, which is 2.7km long, will allow traffic to flow freely from Rethibowli to Gachibolwli without having to cross four bridges.

KTR stated that the state government was focused on Hyderabad’s development as the city was playing an important role in Telangana’s growth.

KTR cited the Reserve Bank of India report (RBI), which showed that Telangana had become fourth in terms of contributing to India’s economic growth.

According to him, the SRDP was created by Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao with the aim of easing congestion and 24 projects were completed at a cost Rs 6,000 crore.

Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited was also established by the government to build 132 links roads.

Roads up to 709km were maintained under Comprehensive Road Maintenance Program.
