Munich 13 September : The efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to lure in significant investments from Germany resulted in a positive outcome on Tuesday when auto giant BMW has agreed to establish its own manufacturing facility for auto parts in the state.The decision was taken at the visit of the Chief Minister to the BMW headquarters in this city.
Mann was in the state during the visit.Mann presented Punjab government’s efforts to boost manufacturing in the state.
Following that, BMW was able to establish the auto component division in the state.
The company is thrilled, Mann said that this would become the second division of the firm in India since one similar unit was operational in Chennai.
He said that this will provide an important boost to the industrial development of the state, and will open new avenues of work opportunities for young people.
The Chief Minister also invited BMW to join forces with the government in the field of e-mobility.
He was informed that electric mobility is a major area of interest for the auto giant , which is aiming to have 50 percent of its sales worldwide to be comprised of entirely electric vehicles by 2030 under the guidance of the Chairman of the Board of Management, BMW AG, Oliver Zipse.
