New Delhi, Aug 27 : IndiGo’s Chennai-Dubai flight was delayed for more than six hours because of an alleged bomb threat that later was found to be fake, as officials announced on Saturday.Officials confirmed that a thorough investigation was conducted by the security agencies responsible of the aircraft following an anonymous report of the bomb was received by the control room of the police.
In the meantime, IndiGo airline in a statement on Saturday stated: “Due to a specific bomb threat, an IndiGo flight (6E 65) from Chennai to Dubai was delayed.According to the procedure, the aircraft was transferred to a remote area and a an investigation into the bomb threat was launched.The flight was operated following an indefinite delay of approximately 6 hours after departing from Chennai.”
The passengers of the flight as well as staff members were given accommodation in the time of the delay.
The police have stepped in and detained the suspect.
