Canadian police are investigating the circumstances that led to this.The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has intensified its investigation into the incident.
The deceased have been identified as Harpreet Singh, Jaspinder Singh, Karnapal Singh, Mohit Chauhan and Pawan Kumar.Police say all of them were studying in the Greater Toronto, Montreal area.Also Pawan Kumar is from Haryana.
The other four are from the state of Punjab, the Indian embassy in Canada said.
Police say driving conditions on the roads are still critical due to the recent heavy snowfall.The Indian community in Canada, on the other hand, was deeply shocked by the tragedy.
The order was extended to the family members of the victims.Dr.Shivendra Dwivedi, National President, Canada Indian Global Forum, Montreal.He said any help needed would be available.
