Queen Elizabeth II, the United Kingdom’s longest-serving monarch has died after her reign of 70 years

London 8th September : The Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch has died at Balmoral aged 96, having being in office for 70 years according to the BBC reported.
The family of her mother came together on her Scottish estate after growing concerns regarding her health earlier on Thursday.

The Queen was crowned on the throne in 1952 and witnessed massive changes in society.

In her passing, her son, the eldest Charles who was the Prince of Wales will lead the nation in sorrow as the King of the future and the head of the state of fourteen Commonwealth kingdoms, BBC reported.

In an announcement, Buckingham Palace said: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

“The King and Queen Consort will be staying at Balmoral tonight and then return to London the following day.”

The children of the Queen’s family traveled to Balmoral close to Aberdeen after doctors placed the Queen in medical care.

Her grandchild, Prince William, is also present, with his brother, Prince Harry in the process of getting there.

Queen Elizabeth II’s reign as head of state was a period of post-war austerityand the change from the empire to Commonwealth and the end of the Cold War and the UK’s entry into – and eventual withdrawal from the European Union.

Her reign included 15 prime ministers, beginning with Winston Churchill, born in 1874.

She also included Liz Truss, born 101 years later in 1975, and was appointed by Queen Elizabeth earlier in the week, BBC reported.

She had weekly meetings with her premier during her time in office.

The Queen was born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, in Mayfair, London, on the 21st of April 1926.
