Bhopal 21 August : Union Home Minister Amit Shah will preside over the Central Zonal Council meeting here on Monday.During the meeting, a variety of key questions will be addressed, officials announced on Sunday.
He is scheduled to arrive in Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj airport at around 11 p.m.on Sunday night.The BJP’s Madhya Pradesh unit president along with other leaders of the party will be waiting to receive him.

On Monday, Shah will chair a Central Zonal Council meeting in which topics like power, connectivity and sharing of river water, and other issues of common interest will be discussed officials informed IANS.

The Central Zonal Council comprises Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The gathering is expected to be attended by chief ministers, ministers principal secretaries, chief secretaries, and high-ranking officials of the member states as well as the Central government according to a Home Ministry official said.

According to the procedure and procedure that is established The council meeting for the zonal area is presided over by a permanent committee of the council in which agenda items that are to be brought before the council are analyzed and prioritized.

The Narendra Modi-led Central government has been organizing meetings of the councils of the zonal regions as component of the overall plan to promote and strengthen the concept of a competitive and cooperative federalism in the nation, according to an official.

The regional councils offer an opportunity for discussion in a structured way about issues that affect one or more states , or issues that arise between the Centre and the states.

Regional councils assist in developing a coordinated strategy through discussions and exchange of opinions between states on crucial issues of economic and social development.

The council meetings of the councils of zonal are utilized by states as well as union territories to discuss their best practices.

The councils also discuss a broad range of issues which include boundary-related disputes, security, infrastructure-related matters like road, transport, industries, water, and power, matters pertaining to forests and environment, housing, education, food security, tourism and transport, etc.

Five zonal councils exist in the country.

The Union Home Minister serves as the chairperson of each of these councils.Likewise, the chief minister of the state of host (to be selected by rotation each year) is vice-chairman.

Two ministers from each state have been chosen as members by the governor.
