Patna on August 29 : A FIR was filed against BJP MLA Vinay Bihari under the Arms Act in Bihar’s West Champaran and his weapon was seized.The Superintendent of Police, West Champaran, Upendra Nath Verma said that the decision was taken upon the basis of an online video that shows Vinay Bihari was seen riding on an elephant, firing in the air with a licensed rifle.
A fair dubbed Kans Vadh was held in the sports field of Machargawa village on August 26 , where the Lauria MLA rode an elephant while waving an AK rifle.He also fired numerous rounds in the air.
The incident was recorded by a local citizen who uploaded it to social media sites.IANS does not confirm the authenticity of the footage.
“We have examined the viral footage and discovered that it is true.The case was filed in accordance with the Arms Act and the weapon was taken.
The permit of the gun is held by Vinay Bihari’s wife,” Verma said.
The MLA added: “Kans Vadh fair is often held in the village where people worship guns and ammunition.Our family has also been a part of it for many years.Fire in the air is a sacred ritual to honor the arms and to celebrate the fair.The video was posted in social media in the wrong way.”
