A 54-year-old Indian woman who was found unconscious in a wheelchair near the luggage belt at Dallas International Airport in Washington has been rescued by paramedics.Airport officials described the incident as “horrific”.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials said Tuesday that the victim had a permanent residence in the United States.She arrived at Washington airport on Sunday evening after a nearly 15-hour journey from Doha, Qatar.
The woman in a wheelchair at the luggage belt did not respond and the security personnel informed the CBP officials.
Authorities arrived there and called US Customs and Border Protection Emergency Medical Technicians.
The federal agency said in a statement that they had been trying to save the woman’s life for ten minutes.Later, with the introduction of Airport Paramedics, the woman’s pulse began to beat for a while.She was rushed to a hospital.Although the woman’s pulse did not fully recover until she was treated at the hospital, officials said the efforts made by Customs and Border Protection Medics in the most critical last ten minutes were what helped her survive.

Officers, staff and passengers who are seriously ill during the journey will immediately go to the field and seek medical help.Currently 368 officers are serving as EMTs and 13 as paramedics.
