New Delhi, Aug 23 : The Central government has issued a directive to convert the National Rail and Transportation University into an Central university that will be known as Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya.The National Rail and Transportation University located in Vadodara is a deemed-to-be-institution.
The notice that was uploaded on Tuesday stated: “The territorial jurisdiction of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya will extend to the entire of India as stated in the first Schedule of this Act.The Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya shall be supported and funded by the Central Government in the Ministry of Railways.”
“All properties, both movable as well as immovable of or belonging to the National Rail and Transportation Institute, Vadodara, shall vest in Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya established under this Act All rights and obligations of the National Rail and Transportation Institute, Vadodara, shall be transferred to, and become the liabilities and rights of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya established under this Act,” said the announcement.
It further states that Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya established as an academic institution will take additional measures to provide high-quality research, teaching and development of skills in various disciplines that deal with transportation, technology and management, such as the establishment of centers in India and overseas according to what is required in the judgment of the University.
The university was named after the ambitious Rs 100 crore PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity.According to the official the university will implement measures to ensure high-quality teaching research and development of skills in diverse disciplines related to transportation engineering and management.
