Shimla 21 August : It’s homely to live in this town according to BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda, as he took a leisurely stroll along the streets of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh capital and relished paan on a Sunday.With the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and noted Bollywood actor Anupam Kher, Nadda lovingly met local people along the Mall Road and briefly stopped at the renowned Alfa Restaurant, state-run Ashiana restaurant and the police report room, where he was awed by the memories.
He also had a chat with owner Rakesh “paan wala’ (Guru Prasad) at the Scandal Point where he consumed the ‘paan’.Rakesh gifted him 10 packed ‘paans’.
Nadda was frequent visitors to the famous shop.
In his early days of politics which he had spent in the Indian Coffee House with his acquaintances, Nadda did not miss the chance to sip the first cup of coffee.
Armed with mobile phones, Nadda was mobbed by people working at the party and by onlookers trying to get selfies with Nadda outside the Indian Coffee House which was established in 1943.
The waiter who once provided Nadda coffee has now become the owner of the coffee shop.
Nadda stated that going to the Mall Road gives him positive energy.
“Coffee house was a place where we could meet with people from the political world, and journalists.
We would discuss political issues there,” he told the media.
As Nadda was strolling, he passed century-old buildings that were once the institutions of power during the time that this town was the capital of summer of British India.
From a neo-Tudor-style public library, which was home to the health department of the municipality , to the 123 years old Gaiety Theatre, where Nobel laureate Rudyard Kipling and legendary actor Prithviraj Kapoor had appeared.
Affirmative with the welcoming nature of the local population, Nadda remarked: “Look at the massive reaction of the locals.”
A thick layer of security was put up to protect the man.
