N.Korea will hold a crucial Parliamentary meeting on September 7

Seoul 8 August : North Korea will organize a crucial parliamentary session in Pyongyang this month, to talk about organizational and other issues pending the state media reported on Monday.
The committee that is the permanent one of the Supreme People’s Assembly (SPA) the North’s rubber stamp Parliament met in plenary on Sunday and voted to open the 7th session of the 14th SPA on the 7th of September as per Pyongyang’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

The upcoming session will be discussing the matter of “adopting the law regarding socialist rural development as well as the landscaping law and the issue of organization”, Yonhap News Agency quoted the KCNA as saying.

The SPA is the highest body of authority under the constitution of North but it also ratifies decisions of the party in power.

It typically has plenary sessions in the month of March or April in order to address with the cabinet and budget changes.

In the past the North held SPA sessions in the months of September and January.

The plenary session on Sunday was led by Choe Ryong-hae who is chairperson of the committee that is in charge with Kim Jong-un’s absence.

The attendees decided to convene the Parliamentary meeting with unanimous approval .They also were able to discuss other issues, such as adopting the laws on medicine as well as revising the law regarding aerospace research, according to KCNA.

The North will also hold a national summit next week to discuss the emergency measures to combat epidemics in the country according to the KCNA announced in an additional report.

The meeting, which is expected to be held prior to August 15, will draw interest to whether or not the North will announce a resolution to the coronavirus outbreak or announce changes to rules against viruses, as the new suspected cases of Covid-19 remain at zero since the 29th of July.

Pyongyang revealed its first Covid-19 incident on May 12, after claiming to be free of coronavirus for more than two years.

It then declared an “maximum crisis” the system for controlling viruses.
