Similarly, the corona affected the Indian economy the most.In the same way, the Tirumala temple suffered a loss of Rs 800 crore during the corona pandemic.
TTD officials said that due to the lack of offerings from devotees in the Tirumala hundi from the past one year, TTD suffered a huge revenue loss.
In February 2020, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Trust Board approved its 2020-21 annual budget of Rs 3,310 crore.
Of this, hundi income reached Rs 1,351 crore. However, during the 12 months of the last financial year, these fell sharply as the temple was closed for 84 days without allowing devotees for darshan.
With this, the offerings in the hundi have decreased.
The Tirumala Tirupati Temple remained closed from March 20, 2020, as per the Covid-19 guidelines issued by the Union Home Ministry. They dis not allowed devotees. It reopened again on June 11, 2020.
