This translates into one every 45 minutes or 31 deaths per day.Official data shows that 7.40 percent of fatalities in traffic accidents result in minors being injured.
This amazing revelation came out of a workshop entitled “Making Roads Safer For Children” held in this city on Thursday.

Synergie, Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) officials as well as leading experts participated.

However, 53 percent said that their parents aren’t concerned if they break traffic laws.

Although schools do teach students the fundamentals of safe driving, many people continue to violate these rules.Dhakne stated that we must do all possible to prevent deaths from roads and provide a safe environment for commuters, both children and adults.

Dattatraya Saste is a member of the Centre’s high-level expert panel on road safety. She stated that safety for children lies in the collective hands of all stakeholders.

Saste stated that “Over the next days, various tools in the areas of road safety and motor vehicles will be developed to address safety concerns, particularly those related to children.”

Verma emphasised the importance of the four-E approach — Enforcement, Engineering, Environment, and Emergency Care — in order to address child road safety issues.

Shankar Vishwanath (Advisor to Mumbai Traffic Police) stated that children are increasingly walking and travelling longer distances for school, college, or playgroups in Indian villages and cities. This is the right time to focus on child safety while commuting to ensure their safety and the nation’s future.
