The country’s progress has taken the Kremlin by surprise, with intelligence experts hailing the event as a major turning point in the war’s six-month duration, Daily Mail reported.

The conflict has led to retaking of some key cities in the east, as the Russian military fled in chaos from a collapsed frontline.

In a collection of footage posted on social media soldiers with British accents are heard talking to one another, while wearing blue armbands to identify as Ukrainian forces.

One video seems to depict soldiers moving POWs through a compound while other clips show soldiers throwing bombs, running to cover and climbing over windows.

Ukraine claimed it had reclaimed over 1158 square miles (3,000 square kilometers) during the month of April from Russian troops in an offensive to counterbalance the northeastern region of the country.

Ukrainian general Valeriy Zaluzhny stated in a statement posted on social mediathat “Since the beginning of September over 3,000 square kilometers are under Ukrainian control.”

“Around Kharkiv, we have begun to expand not just in the east and south but as well towards the north. We are only 50 kilometers (31 miles) from the border.”

The speed of Ukraine’s advance with photos posted by Kyiv officials of their troops waving the Ukrainian flag in liberated towns after moving more than 30 miles has sparked discussions in Moscow that their incursion will be ended in the most humiliating defeats, Daily Mail reported.
