Tokyo Tokyo, August 30, : Electric automaker Tesla is quietly working on an online power station in Japan after it revealed, since 2021 it has been in the background installing its Powerwall batteries in homes located on the Japanese island of Miyako-jima.

“This is the first commercial application of Powerwall for an VPP project in Japan and will also be the biggest commercial VPP made with household batteries in Japan,” the company stated in an announcement.

This project is built upon the “solar panel and storage battery installation service” that lets users install an energy-generating solar system and storage battery with no initial cost for installation.

“In the meantime, Powerwall installation will be performed by Nextems Co., Ltd.which is an Tesla Powerwall certified construction and sales company and Powerwall integration and use as a VPP will be handled through Nextems,” the company stated.

Powerwall aggregation makes use of Tesla software to regulate the optimal charging and charging in large quantities.

This is why for instance, if the power demand and supply are at a minimum at Miyako Island, electricity generated by photovoltaic power generation is stored in Powerwall prior to the strict period of time and released via Powerwall at home in the short period of time.

It not only benefits the homes where it is located, but also the stability of Miyako Island’s power grid, allowing it to ensure the island’s power supply.

Additionally, in the event of an outage in power caused by a typhoon etc.Power will be provided to the house in the area where the Powerwall is installed, which allows you to avoid power outages in the house.
