This is more than twice the Sunday number.

Michalis Hadipantelas, Health Minister, said that possible restrictions were being considered.

He said that these would be determined largely by the incidence of new infections and admissions to hospitals.

According to Xinhua, most restrictions are currently placed on unvaccinated individuals and they aim to make them get the jab.

Petros Karayiannis is a key member of the advisory scientific team to the government. He said the numbers of infected people in the next 3 days would play an important role in deciding whether further restrictions should be imposed.

Karayiannis expressed concerns that almost 27 of the 60 Omicron-related infections were discovered in the community.

He said that it is just a matter time until the Omicron version becomes dominant.

Travelers returning from the UK were responsible for Omicron’s first cases in Cyprus.
