Chandigarh : , Dec 13, 2013 – Former Chief Minister of Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh Monday expressed sadness and disgust at Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Chaney’s treatment by Congress.Singh stated, “I feel sorry for him that despite his tremendous potential, he’s being made subservient to Navjot sidhu, the PCC President”.He also said, “Channi will ultimately end up as a night-watchman only.”
Amarinder, reacting to Sidhu’s appointment as Chairman of Congress Election Committee for Punjab and Channi being placed under his supervision, said that it was unusual for a Chief Minister to be subordinate to the PCC President.
The former Chief Minister observed that “no self-respecting leader should suffer such humiliation”, while suggesting that Channi should quit in order to face humiliation.
He pointed out that the Congress claimed it had named a Scheduled Caste Chief Minister, but now has made him subordinate to the PCC President.
He asked, “Was this just a showpiece in order to win the SC votes?” He asked.
“Just because someone is behaving like a spoilt child and throwing tantrums day in and day out, you are submitting to all his blackmail and in the process insulting and humiliating your Chief Minister, who is doing a good job”, he said, while remarking, “the Congress is going down the dumps”.
