Mass Maharaja Raviteja’s recent outing Ravanasura, directed by Sudheer Verma hit the theaters on April 7th with high expectations.Unfortunately, the film has failed to meet those expectations with poor box office performance and mixed reviews.
The movie had a decent opening day, but collections have been on a sharp decline from second day itself.
In 8 days, it managed to earn only 11.81 crore share, falling short of its break-even target of 23 crores. The film’s negative performance is particularly disappointing, given the hype surrounding it.
The teaser and trailer featured high-octane action sequences, with Ravi Teja playing a villainous character for the first time. However, despite good initial reviews, the collections have dwindled rapidly, and the film is expected to close within two weeks.
This is a huge fall for Raviteja who was banking upon two back to back hits like Dhamaka and Waltair Veerayya.
The lackluster performance of Ravanasura at box office is likely to impact its producers, with Abhishek Nama potentially facing a loss of 10 crores.
Despite Ravi Teja’s last two films, Dhamaka and Walther Veeraya, joining the hundred crore club in terms of gross, Ravanasura has failed to follow suit.It is clear that the film has not lived up to the expectations of both fans and filmmakers.
Ravanasura has bitten to dust despite having multiple beauties like Anu Emmanuel, Daksha nagarkar, Megha Akash and Faria Abdullah. There is a talk in the B-town that the success of Dhamaka has majorly due to the charisma of Sree Leela which lacked in Ravanasura.
