Mosquito Fire in California spreads to almost 30,000 acres

Los Angeles, Sep 10 : The raging Mosquito Fire burning in the eastern foothills of Sacramento the capital city of the western region of US’ California, grew to 29,585 acres (119.7 square kilometers) on Friday at noon about sixty hours after it was first reported on Tuesday night.
“Today the Mosquito Fire displayed extraordinary fire behavior as well as increased nearly four times in the size of the fire,” the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) stated in its latest update and added that aircrafts were still having difficulties accurately mapping the fire’s boundaries due to the heavy smoke Xinhua news agency reported.

The fire continues to rage in the size of 13,700 acres (55.4 square km) that was reported Thursday evening.It also grew to 6,900 acres (27.9 square km) Thursday morning.

Around 1,700 people have been assigned to the massive wildfire as of Thursday evening According to Cal Fire.

The Forest Service said more than 250 bulldozers are on the area.

as of Thursday night, authorities in the area said the fire was in danger of destroying the structures of 3,666 in El Dorado and Placer counties.Georgetown is a historic town of the gold rush of around 3,000 inhabitants was included as an evacuation area.

California Governor Gavin Newsom on Thursday evening declared the state of emergency for El Dorado and Placer counties due to the Mosquito Fire.

A state of emergency was also declared in the early part of this week in Riverside County for Fairview Fire burning in Southern California, which consumed 27,463 acres (111.1 square kilometers) of land as of Friday, at 12 noon.
