Washington 30th, August : The US has reported more than 350,000 cases of Covid-19 in children in the last four weeks, as per the most recent report released by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Children’s Hospital Association.Around 86,600 cases of child Covid-19 were reported during the week ending on August 25, a rise of 9 percent from the previous week, Xinhua news agency quoted the report as saying on Monday.
More than 14.4 million children are believed to have been tested positive for the virus , since the outbreak of the pandemic in the early 2020s according to the report.
About 6.6 million cases are expected to be included in 2022.
There is a pressing requirement to collect more data specific to age to determine the severity of illnesses that are linked to new variants, as well as the potential effects over time, according to the AAP.
“It is crucial to acknowledge that the immediate effects of the pandemic for children’s health however, we must recognize and address the long-lasting effects on the mental, physical and social health of the current generation of youngsters and children,” said the AAP.
The US has reported an overall number of 96,091,120 cases of Covid-19 and 1 069,499 deaths.
The two tallies currently rank the highest elevation in the world.
