Gandhinagar August 28, : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that the government would make forensic investigations mandatory for serious offenses, in which the crime is punishable by more than six years of imprisonment.In his speech as the chief guest of the National Forensic Science University’s (NFSU) inaugural convocation, Shah said that the Central government is working to strengthen the evidence act and, to do this, it is talking to experts in the Indian Penal Code, and the Criminal Procedure Code, to make the necessary changes.
The Home Minister stated that with these modifications and the making of forensic probes obligatory, it will create massive opportunities for forensic science graduates.
He also unveiled three more wings of the NFSU which include the Centre of Excellence in DNA cyber security, forensics, and pathology and investigation forensics that will aid in facing new problems.
Shah stated that he hopes that these wings would play a an important contribution in the field of criminal justice.
