Chennai 28 August : The home of an officer in the jail who is employed in the Central Prison in Cuddalore, was targeted on Sunday with Molotov drinks, in what police officials believe was a planned attack.The incident occurred in the in the early hours of the morning when unidentified criminals set the official quarters of Manikandan who is the deputy jailor in the Cuddalore Central Prison.
A town of the district headquarters in the state of Tamil Nadu, Cuddalore is located 200 kilometers away to the south of Chennai, the capital of the state.Chennai.
When the incident occurred of incident, Manikandan wasn’t at home since he was in Thanjavur after taking medical leave.Family members comprising parents and wife, as well as two children, escaped without injury according to police officials.
The incident is said to have occurred around three a.m.Sunday morning, after unidentified individuals were seen throwing an unidentified bottle of inflammable liquid into the kitchen through the grille of an unclosed window and then set it on fire.The kitchen was totally destroyed in the fire.
Manikandan’s family members were asleep in the jail’s quarters of M.Pudur, escaped and with the assistance of neighbors, put out the fire.Two additional bottles of inflammable liquid, also known as molotov cocktails was discovered in the vicinity of the home.
According to sources in the police, the incident might have been planned by one of the prisoners.
A number of mobile phones were retrieved from prison inmates during searches.
