New Delhi, Aug 23 : Apple has expanded its self-service repair program to MacBook Air and MacBook Pro notebooks with the M1 family of chips.The company announced that it will offer repair guides and authentic Apple tools and parts via the Apple Self Service Repair Store starting with the US.
Self Service Repair for iPhone was introduced earlier in the year.The program is now expanding to additional countries, starting in Europe and will also include further Mac models later in the year, Apple said in a statement on Monday night.
“Self Service Repair” for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro comes with more than a dozen repair options for each model which includes the display the top case with battery and trackpad, with more to be added,” said the iPhone maker.
Customers who are familiar with the complexity of fixing electronic devices can complete repairs to the Mac notebooks with the access to many of the same tools and parts available to Apple Store locations and Apple Authorised Service Providers.
Customers can send their damaged parts back to Apple to be recycled and refurbished as well as in most cases receive credit of the purchase for doing so, according to Apple.
“For the majority of customers who don’t have any experience in repairing electronic devices, contacting an expert repair service with certified technicians that use authentic Apple components is the most secure and most reliable method to repair your device,” the company added.
An international network of more than 5,000 Apple Authorised Service Providers support over 100,000 technicians currently active.
