Amethi 13th September : District administration in Amethi has destroyed madrassas that were illegally built on land that was intended for a pasture.The madrassa, in Gujar Tola village, along the Tanda-Banda highway in Gauriganj area was demolished in the presence of an enormous number of police.
It was in operating since the year 2009 and had a case being worked on in the local court.
However there was no academic work being conducted from the building over the past two years.
Amethi District Magistrate Rakesh Kumar Mishra said: “After orders of the court, the madrassa was destroyed.It was built illegally on land that was intended for a pasture.”
The Amethi administration has also imposed a penalty of 2.24 lakh.2.24 lakh to the proprietor of the madrassa.
The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered an investigation (now in progress) of unrecognised madrasas to collect information about the quantity of teachers and curriculum, the basic facilities as well as their association with any non-government organization.
It is also looking into the sources of income of these madrassas.
