New Delhi, Sep 12 : Delhi High Court on Monday took suo motu notice of media reports of the deaths of two people after inhaling toxic gasses in the sewer , while one of them was cleaning the drain in Mundka the area of the capital city this week.Notifying the public in the case, the division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad sought the response of the Chief Secretary of the city government, Municipal Corporation of Delhi as well as the Delhi Jal Board.
Senior Advocate Rajshekhar Rao was appointed as amicus of the court in the case to assist the court.
According to news reports on the 9th of September, two people who were Rohit Chandiliya (32) and Ashok Kumar (30) died in Mundka area in West Delhi after they breathed toxic gases in the sewer.
Chandiliya, a cleaner at Delhi Development Authority flats, was cleaning the drain in order to remove the blockade, but became unconscious after inhaling toxic gases in the.Kumar the security guard in the area, went the pit in attempt to help him.But, he also felt dizzy and trapped within.
Although they were rescued from the drain , and transported to an emergency hospital with the aid of firefighters and police who reached the site afterward, both were declared to the grave by the doctors.
