Jaipur 9th September : Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday launched the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme at the Ambedkar Bhawan in Jaipur, in which those who are unemployed in cities will be offered jobs, similar to the model of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).In his remarks, Gehlot said that under the scheme, those who need it can be employed by obtaining job cards.
He stated that the government of the state is committed to making sure that every person has a job in cities, just as they do in villages.
The state government hopes to offer 100-day work for every family in need in cities that are covered by the scheme.
The Chief Minister stated that MGNREGA was launched under the UPA regime to create jobs in the rural regions of the country.
The positive outcomes of MGNREGA are being viewed as opportunities for employment are now readily accessible in rural areas of the country.
This has also raised the standard of living of rural residents, Gehlot said.
“When the unemployment rate grew during Covid-19 in the year of Covid-19, the MGNREGA scheme proved to be a huge help.
In keeping this in mind, a landmark decision was made in the budget of the state to establish an employment guarantee program to those living in urban zones,” he said.
Gehlot also unveiled a brochure that was a part of this new plan at the time.
They also handed out job offers to five women.
