Islamabad September 8, : Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Athar Minallah observed on Thursday that PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s response to the court’s show-cause notice were “justifying” disdain of the judiciary, and displayed “no regret or remorse” according to a report in the media stated.He expressed his views when the five-member bench consisting of Minallah as well as justices Mohsin Akhtar Kayani Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb Tariq Mehmood Jhangiri and Babar Sattar heard the contempt trial against Khan.
The IHC had instituted contempt proceedings against Khan for his rant at another district judge and session judge Zeba Chaudhry in an open rally in Islamabad on the 20th of August.
On Wednesday the former premier delivered a second statement to the court following the first one was deemed “unsatisfactory”, Dawn reported.
In one instance during the hearing the Chief Justice noted that Khan’s actions were justifications for the contempt of the court.
Imran’s lawyer, Hamid Khan, said there is a difference between providing an explanation and a reason.
“I am providing an explanation in this instance,” he said.
“Would you have given the same answer in the event that these words were used in the case of an SC or an high court judge?” Minallah asked.
He stressed that Khan was defending the fact that Shahbaz Gill had been tortured in the custody of police.”Tell us.will the decisions be made in rallies or in the court,” Minallah inquired.
Khan’s lawyer claimed that judges of all courts were respected.
In the following, Minallah said that the judges of district courts are more important than judges of the Supreme Court or Supreme Court.
