Chandigarh 8 September : Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday ordered the officials of the Health Department to conduct a survey to determine the exact requirements to operate centers for de-addiction in Haryana.Additionally, the department must also collect information about drug rehabilitation centers operated by Red Cross Society or other social organisations on one platform.
The Chief Minister stated that addiction to drugs has become an epidemic in the society and needs to be dealt with immediately.State government officials are making constant efforts to curb the use of drugs.
“There is no room for lack of diligence in this task.All officers involved must take their responsibilities seriously in this respect,” an official statement that quoted Khattar stated.
The Chief Minister issued these instructions in the course of the meeting of the Managing Committee of the Indian Red Cross Society, Haryana branch, which was chaired by Governor Bandaru Dattatraya, who is the President of Indian Red Cross Society, Haryana branch.
The Chief Minister stated that the youngsters are susceptible to addiction to drugs.
All stakeholders, including the Health Department, the Education Department and the Red Cross Society, etc.should be focusing on making students aware of the negative effects of drugs.To do this, a massive awareness program should be conducted in schools and colleges as well as universities.
To monitor the performance of the de-addiction facilities that have been set up in districts, instructions have been issued to Sub-divisional Magistrates visit the centres in their districts at least per month and to review the condition of the facilities as well as their functioning there, according to the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister gave directions that a wing established in every district hospital to impart similar first-aid courses as provided by the Red Cross Society.
