Bengaluru 7th of September : The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday ordered the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to establish grievance cells in each ward in the backdrop of the flood situation that has resulted from heavy rains in Bengaluru.A division bench, headed by the acting Chief Justice Alok Aradhe handed the direction when it was looking into the Public Interest Litigation petition in connection with the poor control of roads by the BBMP.
The bench directed the police to immediately establish cells to investigate the issues of the population in various areas of Bengaluru affected by the floods and rains and also to appoint an engineer for each cell to deal with the complaints.
The BBMP should establish an engineering group of engineers who will ensure that there is a systematic flow of water in the areas of concern the bench said.
The court directed the civic agency to submit the proposal as soon as possible and get the blessing of the government.The BBMP informed the court that gates for sluice would be put in place in the lakes of Bengaluru and that the water is being removed through pumps.
