Tel Aviv, Sep 7 : The Israel Airports Authority (IAA) announced the opening of an additional terminal at Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport located just outside Tel Aviv to accommodate more passengers.The new terminal that is scheduled to start in October, was planned to accommodate with the expected rise in the volume of travelers arriving from to other countries at the airport, with only two terminals are currently operating, Xinhua news agency reported citing the IAA as announcing that it had issued a statement.
The building of the terminal that will be built, which covers an area of 3,900 square meters, is expected to be finished in 2023, the statement added.
The IAA also announced the addition of airport parking areas with baggage conveyors, check-in counters areas to inspect baggage food courts, as well as VIP lounges in the airport.
The total amount of passengers using the airport between August and October this year is anticipated to be 6.2 million.
In 2022 the amount of passengers using the airport is predicted to reach 18 million, which is nearly twice the size of the population of Israel, according to an IAA statement.
