Bengaluru 5th September : Telangana Government and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, on Monday announced the signing of an agreement to to establish the first Indian Agricultural Data Exchange (ADEx).ADEx will build on India Urban Data Exchange (IUDX) pioneering in making utilization of data for the benefit of the public.
IUDX was also developed in IISc in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and has launched a range of platforms tools, applications, and tools that have benefited urban residents according to in the press release issued by IISc said.
The collaboration with the Telangana Government will bring these same concepts to the agricultural sector, allowing a range of new services for farmers, ranging from more credit options as well as better insurance products, better seed tracking, better targeted advice for farmers, and more.
ADEx will be tested in Telangana with a limited group of participants and usage-cases in the beginning of 2023, and then before a rollout of production in the same state the same year.Both private and public sector data will be available through ADEx and a range of new and established companies will be urged to create these services to farmers.
It is expected that ADEx will be accessible to other states, and eventually used across the country.

With ADEx we hope to create a new community of software developers who have access to the top-of-the-line data platform to develop applications that will bring technological changes to the sector.We are delighted to work with IISc in this effort.”

The IUDX Programme supports India’s Smart Cities Mission within the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and assists in the utilization of data to harness the maximum potential of technology and innovation in Indian cities.It is conceived as a multidisciplinary program in the Society for Innovation and Development in the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.
The IUDX programme addresses both technical and non-technical issues that relate to the utilization of data to create a public good.
The open-source platform created by the programme allows for greater effectiveness in the city’s administration, by making it easier for data exchange between different municipal departments, civic bodies developers, application developers, and the relevant data users.
