Travel show “Expedition Borderlands” to unravel the cultural ties of frontier cities of India, Pak

Mumbai 2 Sep : A former British Army officer and explorer Levison Wood is set to begin the trip of India as well as Pakistan frontiers with travel journalist Ash Bhardwaj in the upcoming documentary “Expedition Borderlands with Levison Wood and Ash Bhardwaj’.The two will explore the cultural aspects of the border between India and Pakistan.
The unique docuseries will take viewers on an adventure of 2500 kilometers traversing a route which has not been explored by cameras until now.The series is scheduled to have the launch on the 8th of September on OTT platform discovery+.

Speaking about the docuseries, Levison Wood stated: “Ash and I were fortunate enough to experience amazing food, culture and hear lots of interesting tales in both India and Pakistan.I can’t think of any person I would rather had this trip with more than Ash.It was fascinating to see the world from his point of view and we had lots of laughter on the way! The most enjoyable aspect of the trip was to see what ties these two nations in the border region.”

The “unforgettable” trip helped both of them to attempt to be a part of the group that has so many things in common , yet are so different.

“The frontier regions are home to a community of resilient and loving civilians who have welcomed us into their homes and lives”, Levison further mentioned.

The series will see the duo spending time in the lives of everyday people while they travel to remote and offbeat destinations such as Tyakshi, Turtuk, Nubra valley, Dras, Kargil, Teetwal, Gurez in India and Lahore, Peshawar, Khyber Pass, Nowshera, Taxila, Skardu, Khaplu in Pakistan to gain a complete knowledge of the indigenous culture and traditions.

In his statement, Ash Bhardwaj said: “Lev and I have been traveling together for more than 10 years however this trip was special.Being in a position to walk in the steps of my grandparents made me feel incredibly connected to my family and not only in Punjab but also across the Pakistani side of the border too.The geography along the border is extraordinary, but what really impressed me was the people that we encountered on the journey.”

The two are involved in local sports such as Horse Polo on both sides of the border and a short game of cricket at Teetwal and countless other in the course of their journey.

“We have met some remarkable people most of them through participating in unplanned activities.Lev and I both bring a unique view to the travels we’ve made making it more enjoyable for both of us.” Ash added.
