Chennai 2 September : In a shockwave that swept across the Tamil film industry, the renowned artist Bamba Bakya, known for singing in several chart-topping songs, died at the end of the day on Thursday.He was 49 years old.There are reports on social media indicate the vocalist, who recorded a number of hit songs, including the opening lyrics of the newly released song “Ponni Nadhi” from Mani Ratnam’s forthcoming masterpiece ‘Ponniyin Sevan died after suffering an cardiac arrest.
Although Bakya is his initial name the singer was often referred to as Bamba Bakya because he could sing songs similar to sufi artist Bamba.
Before he was able to render film songs, Bamba Bakya was known for his devotional tunes.
A couple of the songs that she is famous for includes ‘Pullinangal’, a song from Rajinikanth ‘2.0″, and ‘Simtangaran’, a Vijay-starrer “Sarkar”.
A number of celebrities of the Tamil film industry have expressed condolences for the loss of Bamba Bakya.
Actress Karthi tweeted: “Really saddened by the sudden passing of Bamba Bakiya.I pray for his family and loved ones to can find the courage to bear this loss of a magnitude.”
The actor Shanthanoo Baghyaraj too expressed his condolences on Twitter.He posted: “Loved his voice.It was too soon.”
