New Delhi, Aug 22 : The virtual reality (VR) job openings at Meta have completely died in the wake of CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg places a $10 billion bet on constructing his dream of a metaverse, a new report has revealed.
The VR job ads have also decreased in various Big Tech companies like Apple and Google in the midst of a hiring boom and layoffs due to the economic crisis according to workplace research platform Revelio Labs.

Since Meta’s change of name in October 2021 The quantity of new job advertisements that mention VR (VR) increased dramatically in the beginning of 2022.

“However the crypto recession and tech crash likely slowed the hiring process more recently.

While Meta was the leader in the demand for VR talent in the final quarter of 2021, it was unable to sustain its efforts as other companies were rushing in to fill the gap,” Revelio Labs said in a blog post from last week.

In partnership with Bloomberg, Revelio Labs examined the recent trend of hiring in the realm of metaverse.

In a shocking twist of circumstances, Accenture has put out more VR related job advertisements than Meta since the beginning of October 2021, it was found.

“When we look at the differences in skill share between Accenture and Meta and Meta, we can see that VR jobs in Accenture are characterized by a greater percentage in design-focused skills , while the positions in Meta are more focused on product development and research.

Accenture isn’t looking to conduct groundbreaking research but “is possibly looking to use existing tools to assist clients in adapting and function in the”metaverse”.

“Tech companies were dominant in their search for VR talent, however, companies in other sectors were also looking to expand their offerings into the virtual world,” the report noted.
