Kiev 18 August : Ukraine is bracing itself for Russian missile strikes on its capital Kiev on its Independence Day on August 24 the Presidential advisor Oleksii Arestovych said. “However this won’t alter the current military situation.
Instead, it’s an emotional gesture that would take more civilians to the grave and ruin the holiday season,” Arestovych was quoted as saying by the news agency dpa.
He said, however, that Ukraine could be a major problem for the Russians and also recalled the string of recent blasts in Crimea which was annexed by Moscow in 2014.
“In the event of attacks, it would be much worse for them,” he said.
Russian troops, meanwhile, have gained a few points in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine The Ukrainian General Staff declared on Wednesday.
