New Delhi, Aug 17 : The India tablet market grew by 68 percent year-on-year (YoY) and 5G tablet sales grew by 71% YoY in the second quarter (Q2) of this year according to a report on Wednesday.
According to Cybermedia Research (CMR) CMR, the shipments of tablets with 8-inch displays accounted for 78 % of the total shipment in the Indian market.

On the other side tablets with 10-inch and larger displays accounted for 227 percent of the YoY shipment.

“Driven by the rollouts of 5G in the near future, we expect an increase in 5G tablet sales in the tablet market which is similar to the trends that we have seen in the market for smartphones with 5G,” Menka Kumari, Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR, stated in an announcement.

“The gradual opening up of the Indian economy is translating into an increase in the tablet market for commercial use,” Kumari added.

Lenovo (26 percent), Apple (19 per percent) and Samsung (19 percent) took the top three places in the tablet leaderboard in the second quarter of 2022.

The report also stated that the market for tablets with 4G recorded a 65 percent YoY growth.

The value of money tablets in the price range of Rs 10,000 to Rs 20000 posted a stunning annual growth of 142% in the second quarter of 2022.

“Driven by both enterprise and consumer demand for specialized applications, such as high-end gaming and productivity cases, we are expecting new innovations in software and hardware that include a larger screen sizes for tablets as well as increased RAM, upgraded camera technology, and battery, among other things,” Kumari added.
