New Delhi, Aug 17 : As India and other countries make concrete actions to implement 5G the number of job advertisements by telcos relating to 5G has increased by 65 percent in the in July, going from 5,265 job ads in January to 8,667 in July the report revealed on Wednesday.The number of active jobs was up 46 percent, while closings of jobs increased by 75 percent in the same time frame according GlobalData’s study of 175 companies across the globe.
Reliance Jio is hiring for “Lead 5G Core” and Cloud Architecture’ to support various applications and the core products required for 5G.
Vodafone Idea’s job posting for an ‘AGM-Practice Lead Smart Mobility is required to have previous experience in the field of smart mobility sector and 5G-connected electric and automobile vehicles.
“India’s 5G spectrum auction concluded with Reliance Jio emerging as the highest bidder, together with Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea as well as Adani Group.Bharti Airtel is planning to launch 5G services in India by the end of August,” said Sherla Sriprada the business fundamentals analyst of GlobalData.
Major players such as Ericsson, China Telecom, Deutsche Telekom and American Tower were discussing investment around CapEx and 5G production in 2022.
A number of tech companies are seeking to hire engineers to develop 5G applications.
“For jobs like managing networks, testing, and software development, companies are likely to recruit experts in areas like infrastructure development equipment, network operations and spectrum services.” Sriprada said.
Apple has also announced roles in the 5G protocols layer , and is hiring for a ‘RF Systems Architect’ which is responsible for the definition and analysis of new 6G spectrum policies as well as use cases and the future of radio access networks in the lead for 6G radios.
Nokia has also launched an 5G Industrial Incubation Lab in South Australia and posted a “Graduate Engineer in Technology’ job.
“It’s not just 5G investments that companies are considering as they’ve also shown curiosity in 6G investments as well as related functions,” said Sriprada.
More than 130 jobs were advertised between January 2022 and July 2022, based on 6G as the title search.
