London 16 August, London : The UK Met Office on Tuesday issued a yellow storm warning for the majority of the country with the possibility of torrential rain and flash flooding, as well as power outages and disruptions in transport.The weather warning will remain in place for the south of England this Wednesday when communities could be shut off by flooding roads.
Additionally, the risk of rapid-flowing or deep flood water could threaten people, according to the DPA news agency.
The torrential rains resulted in floods in regions of Cornwall and Devon on Monday afternoon, while thunderstorms erupted in counties along the east coast, like Essex, Suffolk and Lincolnshire.
It came as a sudden ending to the heatwave that swept through the region last week.It it followed months of very little rain that caused droughts and left the area drained.
The National Drought Group on August 12 moved portions of the South West, parts of central and southern England and also the East of England into official drought conditions.At six water firms have either imposed or plan to enforce hosepipe bans.
The Met Office said localised areas in England and Wales will be struck with torrential rain, thunder, and localised flooding on Tuesday.
Otherwise, it are expected to be humid and warm with the possibility of some sunny periods and showers.
The Environment Agency has put 10 flood alerts in areas of Norfolk, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.
