Kerala Lok Ayukta bill issue now CPI is seeking discussion of modifications

Thiruvananthapuram on August 16 : The reason for this is Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan not signing the 11 Ordinances for re-promulgation that comprises the Lok Ayukta Ordinance, the CPI -the second largest allies in the government of Pinarayi Vijayan government — on Tuesday also said it was done and requested a debate on it.
In the spring of this year in the year, the Vijayan government issued an order restricting the power of Lok Ayukta.

In a cabinet session held here on Tuesday two CPI Ministers, K.Rajan and P.Prasad, expressed their reservations, following the fact that their party was criticized for a slack response to Vijayan’s instructions regarding the Lok Ayukta Bill issue.

Sources said that following the demand made by the CPI ministers, a furious Vijayan stated that this “issue could be discussed in depth” and he resigned during the cabinet session.

In the following days, CPI secretary Kanam Rajendran when asked by media about the developments was asked by journalists to ask the same issue following the Bill is approved in the Assembly.

Opposition Leader of Opposition V.D.Satheesan said that under no circumstance will they let the Assembly to approve this Bill that limits the power of the Lok Ayukta.

Since the Ordinance is due to expire in the near future, Lok Ayukta will get back all its powers.The Lok Ayukta is all set to decide on the case of Vijayan for misusing of the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.
