Modi and Shehbaz Sharif’s meetings are likely to occur in the course of SCO summit: report

Islamabad 11 August : Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif Premier Ministers of India and Pakistan are likely to meet during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, diplomatic sources informed a media outlet.
The SCO summit is scheduled for September 15-16, where the top leaders of the organization will gather with each other to discuss regional issues, Daily Jang reported.

Sharif is scheduled to attend the conference where he is expected to meet with the leaders of China, Russia, Iran as well as Modi according to sources.

The sources also confirmed that in the July 28 meeting the SCO Foreign ministers HAD reiterated that the leaders of SCO states will be attending the summit.

However Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto who been present at the Tashkent meeting in Tashkent and was adamant that a bilateral meeting between Pakistani and Indian leaders is not planned.

“There aren’t any plans of any talks between Indian and Pakistani Prime Ministers in September,” he had said and added that both India and Pakistan are members of the SCO and both countries only participate in the framework of the general activities of the organization.
